Cold Storage 3PL in Sydney
OPS 3PL operates chilled storage between 2 and 6°C at our Rosebery warehouse in Sydney, alongside ambient warehousing on the same site. That means temperature-sensitive stock and dry goods can be held, picked, packed and despatched together, in one place, without a transfer between facilities.
Very few third-party logistics providers in Sydney offer genuine chilled storage. Most cold storage in Australia is bulk frozen or pallet-in, pallet-out — not pick-and-pack fulfilment at unit level. We do unit-level fulfilment out of chilled.
What we hold at 2–6°C
- Medical and pharmaceutical products with a controlled storage range
- Cold beverages and drink ranges
- Beauty and skincare items that degrade at ambient temperature
- Any consumer product where the label specifies refrigerated storage
How the cool room is monitored
The cool room is digitally monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Temperature is logged continuously rather than spot-checked, so there is a record for any period you need to evidence — which matters if you are supplying regulated products or responding to a customer complaint.
Cold chain through despatch, not just storage
Holding stock at temperature is only half the problem. The risk point for most chilled ecommerce orders is the gap between the cool room and the customer’s door.
We pack chilled orders with insulation and coolant appropriate to the transit time for the destination, using your packaging where you supply it. Orders are staged so they leave the cool room close to courier collection rather than sitting at ambient on a despatch bench.
Ambient and chilled in one warehouse
Most orders are not purely chilled. A typical order might contain a refrigerated product, a dry product and printed inserts. Because we hold both ambient and chilled stock at Rosebery, the whole order is assembled in one place and ships as one parcel — rather than being split across two facilities, which costs you two shipments and gives your customer two deliveries.
Same-day despatch
Ecommerce orders received before 12pm are fulfilled the same day. For chilled goods, same-day matters more than it does for dry goods, because every additional day in transit is another day of thermal risk.
Accuracy
We pick and pack at a 99% accuracy rate, across more than 1,500,000 orders fulfilled to date. Our warehouse customer service team sits on the warehouse floor, so a last-minute address change or order amendment is handled by someone who can physically walk to the pick.
Getting started
Tell us what you store, the temperature range on the label, your order volume and the platform you sell on. We will tell you whether we are a fit — and if chilled fulfilment is not actually what you need, we will say so.
The cool room
There is no minimum term. Chilled storage is charged on the positions your stock occupies, per week, so you are not committing to a block of refrigerated space ahead of knowing whether you need it.
Ours is a purpose-built cool room, not a modular unit or a refrigerated container parked on a slab. That matters for two reasons: temperature stability across a load, and how much of the space you can actually pick from rather than just stack into.
Around 100 pallet spaces are chilled, with capacity to expand as clients grow, plus bin locations for unit-level picking. It sits inside a 1,000 m² facility alongside ambient and two intermediate temperature bands, so mixed orders are assembled in one place.
Who is using it
Four clients currently hold chilled stock with us. One is an at-home testing brand shipping roughly 300 orders a month, picked at unit level straight out of refrigeration — which is the workload most cold stores cannot handle, because they are built for pallet-in, pallet-out.
We have operated the cool room since 2024, and OPS 3PL holds ABN 64 676 295 891.
What we will not take
We do not handle anything requiring a permit or licence. We are a third-party logistics warehouse, not a licensed pharmaceutical wholesaler, and we do not process returns on chilled stock.
We would rather say that at first contact than discover it at onboarding. If your product falls outside what we can hold, we will tell you and, where we can, point you somewhere that does.
Despatch
Dry-goods orders received before 12pm are despatched the same day. Chilled cutoffs are agreed per client rather than fixed, because the right cutoff depends on your carrier and destination — and we would rather set one that works than publish one that does not.
Chilled orders are packed with insulation and coolant you supply and specify. Chilled transit is arranged by you or your carrier; see cold chain fulfilment for where our responsibility ends and yours begins.
Frequently asked questions
How much chilled storage capacity do you have?
Around 100 chilled pallet spaces in a purpose-built cool room, with capacity to expand, plus bin locations for unit-level picking. The cool room sits inside a 1,000 m² facility with ambient and two intermediate temperature bands.
Can you pick individual units from chilled storage?
Yes. We pick at unit level out of refrigeration rather than pallet-in, pallet-out only. One client is an at-home testing brand shipping around 300 orders a month picked straight from chilled.
What temperature do you hold chilled stock at?
2-6°C in a purpose-built, continuously monitored cool room. That sits entirely within the 2-8°C range most pharmaceutical and diagnostic specifications are written to.
What will you not store in chilled?
Anything requiring a permit or licence. We are a third-party logistics warehouse, not a licensed pharmaceutical wholesaler, and we do not process returns on chilled stock.
Is there a minimum storage term?
No. There is no minimum term and no lock-in contract on chilled storage. You pay for the pallet or bin positions your stock occupies, per week, so you are not committing to a block of refrigerated space ahead of knowing whether you need it.
