Ambient Warehouse Storage in Sydney
OPS 3PL provides ambient warehouse storage at our Rosebery facility in Sydney, with pick and pack, ecommerce fulfilment and B2B despatch operating from the same site. Ambient stock sits alongside three temperature-controlled bands in the same building, so a single order can pull from any of them without a transfer between facilities.
Storage formats
Storage is charged on the unit that suits the product, not forced onto pallets:
- Pallet storage — racked, charged per pallet per week
- Large storage bin (52L) — charged per bin per week
- Plastic storage bin — for smaller SKUs, components and accessories, charged per bin per week
Charging per week rather than per month matters if your stock turns over quickly — you are not paying for a full month on inventory that shipped in nine days.
Temperature bands
We are not limited to ambient and chilled. Four bands operate in the same building:
- Ambient — standard warehouse temperature
- Controlled under 25°C — for stock that degrades in an uncontrolled Sydney summer
- Controlled under 18°C — cool storage below room temperature
- Controlled under 6°C — refrigerated, bin storage (see cold storage 3PL)
The under-25°C and under-18°C bands are the ones most brands do not know to ask for. Supplements, cosmetics with actives, chocolate and some device components do not need refrigeration but do fail in an uncontrolled warehouse over a Sydney summer.
Receiving your stock
Inbound freight is booked in, checked against your ASN or packing list, counted, and put away to a recorded location. If what arrives does not match what was declared, we tell you rather than absorbing it quietly.
We unload shipping containers directly — 20ft and 40ft — as well as palletised and unpalletised freight. Palletised inbound is charged per pallet; container unloading is charged per container; mixed pallets and loose boxes are charged hourly, because they genuinely take longer.
How storage and handling are charged
There is no minimum term and no lock-in. You pay for the pallet or bin positions your stock actually occupies, for the weeks it occupies them. If your volume drops, so does what you pay, and you can stop without penalty.
Pricing has a small number of components and no monthly platform fee:
- Receiving — per incoming order, per pallet, per container, or hourly for mixed freight
- Storage — per pallet or per bin, per week, by temperature band
- Pick and pack — a rate for the first item in an order plus a lower rate per additional item
- Delivery — carrier rate
- Value-add — kitting, repacking, labelling, inserts, returns processing, cycle counts
Pick and pack rates step down as monthly order volume rises, across four bands from under 500 orders a month up to 5,000 and above. Higher volume genuinely costs less per order to run, and the rate card reflects that rather than holding a single price.
Ambient and temperature-controlled under one roof
Because all four bands sit at Rosebery, a mixed order — a refrigerated item, a supplement that needs under 25°C, a dry product and printed inserts — is assembled in one place and ships as one parcel.
The alternative is splitting stock across providers: two invoices, two inventories to reconcile, two shipments to your customer, and a transfer leg for anything needing consolidation.
Value-add services
Handled in-house rather than subcontracted: kitting and repacking, labelling, standard and custom inserts, returns processing per item, cycle counts and inventory counts, product photography, garment steaming, and recycling or disposal by weight. Rush project preparation is available at under 24 hours notice.
Who this suits
Ecommerce brands outgrowing a garage or spare room; businesses whose storage constraints are dictating what they can buy; wholesalers needing a Sydney position for retail distribution; and any brand holding stock that needs a controlled temperature short of refrigeration.
Frequently asked questions
What is ambient warehouse storage?
Ambient storage holds stock at standard warehouse temperature, with no refrigeration or added heating. It suits products that are unaffected by normal indoor temperature movement. At our Rosebery facility ambient sits alongside three controlled bands in the same building, so a single order can pull from any of them without a transfer between sites.
Is there a minimum storage term?
No. There is no minimum term and no lock-in. You pay for the pallet or bin positions your stock actually occupies, for the weeks it occupies them, so if your volume drops so does what you pay.
Is warehouse storage charged per pallet or per bin?
Both are available, and both are charged per week rather than per month. Pallet storage is racked and charged per pallet. Smaller SKUs, components and accessories go into a 52L large storage bin or a smaller plastic bin, charged per bin. Weekly charging matters for fast-turning stock, because you are not paying a full month on inventory that shipped in nine days.
Can I store stock with you without using fulfilment?
Yes. We take straight storage clients as well as full fulfilment. Stock is received, counted and put away to recorded locations, and held without pick and pack running on it. Fulfilment can be added later if you need it.
What temperature bands do you offer besides ambient?
Four bands operate in the same building: ambient, controlled under 25°C, controlled under 18°C, and refrigerated under 6°C. The under-25°C and under-18°C bands are the ones most brands do not know to ask for. Supplements, cosmetics with actives and chocolate fail in an uncontrolled Sydney warehouse over summer but do not need refrigeration.
Can you unload shipping containers?
Yes. We unload 20ft and 40ft containers directly, as well as palletised and unpalletised freight. Container unloading is charged per container, palletised inbound per pallet, and mixed pallets or loose boxes hourly, because they genuinely take longer.
